Wow! That's a handsome kid!

Sorry, I just can't help it. Jordan is so handsome!

It has been really warm here - in the 80's all week. In fact, we turned our air conditioner on a couple of days ago...in March! So, Jordan is in his summer pajamas already!

cuteness

I just have to share a few cute things about my boys.

First, isn't Evan so cute?! I decided to put him in real clothes yesterday instead of just a sleeper - wow! It was in the 80's here yesterday...just as an aside!

Evan got this little stuffed lamb for Easter. Jordan knows it is Evan's, so every time Evan starts getting upset anywhere Jordan runs and gets the lamb and gives it to Evan.

Jordan loves family prayer time, either at meals or before we go to bed. When the last person sits down to dinner he starts saying "pray, pray!" At night he has started kneeling with us and folding his arms as best he can!

We had our Relief Society Enrichment night last night. I went over during the day to help set up with my two boys. Jordan really wanted to help. It was so cute. As I was putting tablecloths on he would try to help straighten them. Then I had to rearrange some, which meant taking a couple off. He then went over to the next nearest table and took the tablecloth off and handed it to me.

Easter egg hunt

Right after we got back from Phoenix, we headed up to Utah to visit Mike's family. We had a really good time visiting friends and family. While we were there we had an Easter egg hunt for Jordan. He was SO cute. He loved it. Every time he found one he said "I want more" (you can hear it better in the second video). He started screaming every time too!

Grandpa's little helper

Jordan had a lot of fun with my Grandparents. He wouldn't leave them alone, actually. He especially loved helping my Grandpa in the yard.

He helped him sweep the orange blossoms (they also raked them up too!)

My Grandpa would pick and orange and Jordan would take it...

and throw it! He kept calling the oranges and grapefruits balls and throwing them. But, then he would want to eat them, so he knew they were fruit too...silly boy!

He decided he was going to pick a grapefruit himself!

Evan and his Great Grandparents

Evan was so happy around my grandparents, it was so cute! He was so good when my Grandma would hold him.

My Grandpa sang him Dutch songs to help him fall asleep - and it worked!

A few family shots from our trip

So, when we got to my grandparents, we realized that Evan had a blowout diaper. It was definitely a two person job. Jordan was so cute - he wanted to help out too!

Evan is a really sweet boy. He smiles so much, especially when he sees us. So, we were sitting around getting him to smile.

Mike and his boys. (Do you like Evan's killer bald spot?!)

Our road trip to Arizona

We went down to Arizona this weekend to see my grandparents. My dad went for a business trip too, so it was perfect! Here is the road trip part:

We passed by Lake Mead and Hoover Dam - that was the worst part of the trip. The lake was really pretty but the traffic was terrible!

Here are our boys at lunch! They both did really well on the trip...thank goodness!

Jordan got to watch a movie on the drive. He was so tired, so I gave him his dog and he eventually went to sleep!

Isn't he cute?!

Handsome boys

I know I might be biased and all, but man, these boys are dang handsome!

Evan has been really tired today. I set him down after I fed him and he went right to sleep like this, which he never does...pretty cute, huh?!

Evan smiles a ton. He has really been liking his bouncer lately. I keep trying to get a picture of him smiling, but I am still having a hard time. But, here is a handsome shot of him!

Jordan got a haircut last night and he looks so cute!

My little athlete

Jordan is SO cute and getting so big. Tonight he was in a silly mood again. Anyway, he was playing basketball with Mike and every time he made a shot he clapped and gave Mike a hug. So, we had to get a video. This time because I am there he runs over to me and gives me a hug and then gives Mike one. (you might want to turn the volume down - Jordan likes to scream when he's excited lately!)

Jordan has been catching a football really well lately so we got a little video of it. (again, lots of screaming...)

Soft...

When I was little I loved rubbing the top of my lip with soft things, so I tried it with Evan and he loved it. He kept smiling and sticking his lip out as far as he could.

The experiment

I saw the most amazing thing on tv today. I was watching one of those shows about child psychology where they perform different experiments to learn about behavior. They were doing one on temperment, trying to decide if kids are born with different temperments (seems obvious, but I have been wondering this...I'll explain later). They put an about 9 month old baby in a room with their mom. The mom is reading a magazine and the baby had their own book to look at/play with. Then a plant was brought in and the moms we supposed to keep their baby from touching it. The first one they showed was a mom and her son. She was trying to read her magazine but he kept trying to take it or play with it. She tried and tried to interest him in his book, but he was only interested in what she was doing. Then when they brought the plant out, he went right for it. His mom said no and moved him and he went right back for it. He kept doing this over and over. The narrator explained that this mom had to work really hard at parenting because of the temperment of the child and the only solution was to remove the temptation.
Next, they showed a mom and her daughter. When they were doing the magazine/book part of the experiment the baby just played with her book while the mom read her magazine. Then, when the plant was brought out the baby went right for it. Her mom said no and the baby never went for it again. The narrator then explained that this mom didn't have to work as hard to parent. I was in complete shock that such a child could exist! But, at the same time, it was a relief to me that, as they were explaining, kids are just born with different temperments, so parenting is different depending on the child. I was always worried in the back of my mind that Jordan was exactly like that first child because I had done something wrong that made him not want to listen or play independently.
Then I was thinking about what it would be like to have a child that you could just set down and do whatever you wanted because the child was playing happily by themself. Wow...I can't imagine, but I bet I might have a clean house! But, I love Jordan's personality. So thinking about changing one thing makes me wonder if he would still be him. So, to my crazy, busy little boy....

I LOVE YOU just the way you are!
